Description

Programme for the ceremony marking Sir Tangaroa Tangaroa's retirement as Queen's Representative and his replacement by Sir Apenera Pera Short. The latter's name does not appear in the programme. Handwritten marginal notes presumed to be in Ron Crocombe's hand identify aspects of the ceremony which he found amusing or annoying, such as its cost, which he estimates at $3000, the vacuity of the retiring QR's speech, and the irony of his 'main achievement' being the allowing of sandals to be worn at Queen's Birthday celebrations when everyone present at this event was 'in black suits and sweltering'.
